What Do You Actually Need for a Wedding?

Weddings

7 Aug

A wedding will quite often be one of the first large-scale events someone will plan in their lifetime. We can’t all be expert party planners and planning a wedding often takes more than we might initially think. Here are the things you actually need to procure for a wedding, no matter how big or small it might be.

The Official Paperwork

If you are going to be legally marrying one another then you need to make sure that you have the right paperwork in place, no matter what. You could be saying your “I do’s” in front of hundreds of people or less than twenty, it does not matter. That paperwork needs to be in place to make the marriage legal and binding.

This might be especially needed if you are planning on getting married abroad. It might be a better idea to go have a small wedding at your local registry office first. This will be your legal wedding and might only be attended by your parents at most. You can then have a big destination wedding with all your friends and family in attendance without wondering if you are actually legally married.

The Right Clothes

Most couples like to opt for the formal suit and white dress for the happy couple. They are a classic choice, and the wedding industry is certainly full of amazing choices that you could make. However, they are definitely not the only choices out there that you could choose. Ultimately, you want to wear the clothes that make you feel the best at your wedding. There is no right or wrong thing that you could ultimately wear.

Many people like to tie their outfits to their wedding theme in some way. For example, if you are having a country wedding then throwing on a pair of cowboy boots is a sly and subtle way to nod to this. If you want more of a 1950s Americana affair, consider a short, full-skirted wedding dress.

There is also absolutely no requirement that a bride needs to stick to white, ivory, or cream for her wedding dress. If you want to make a statement in black, red, or with a crazy pattern, you absolutely can go ahead and do that. This is your special day, and it should always be what you want. If you don’t want to have a classic white ballgown and a suit, there is no reason why you should stick to that. You could even take a leaf out of history’s book, and pick outfits that you know you are going to be able to wear again and again.

High Quality Suppliers

No matter the size of your wedding, you need to make sure that you have the right wedding suppliers on your side. These are crucial people who can really help bring the smaller details of a special day to life. They can provide all sorts of goods and services you have only dreamt of.

From wedding invitations, to food and entertainment, to party favours, they will be able to bring together many of the small things that you might not initially think about when planning the wedding itself. Make sure you get these arranged beforehand so you know that you have the best of the best on your side to help bring your dreams of your big day to life. It might take a while to get things all pulled together, and you don’t want something to slip by at the last minute.

The Right Photographer

Obviously, a professional photographer will always deliver the highest quality of photograph for you to use. You want a good reminder of your special day for you to look at in the future. You might have a friend standing by who is able to offer you a set of brilliant amateur photos. This is great for weddings with a tighter budget, and also involves a friend who otherwise might not be in the bridal party.

If you are going to use a professional photographer, you need to make sure that they are going to take the style of photo you like the most. Take the time to research different photographers in your area, and make sure that you look at their portfolios differently. Everyone has a slightly different editing style and lens preference. Always make sure you choose a photographer whose work you enjoy, as this means that you will be able to work together more smoothly to record your big day.

The Right Guests

You do not have to invite everyone you know to your wedding. You do not have to invite family if you do not want them there. You don’t have to make all of your close friends part of the wedding party.

We always get so caught up if the politics of the guestlist and what the bride and groom actually want can get lost in the demands from in-laws for certain cousins and extended family members. A wedding should always be about celebrating the love between two people. If they want a small wedding with just their immediate family and their closest of friends, this should always be accepted.

Remember that you could always have a smaller ceremony and a bigger reception. This is a great way to make sure the important people are there for the main wedding but still include everyone you could want in the day as a whole. Remember that you always have final control of the guestlist.

Make a List of Everything

A lot goes into a wedding and it is very easy for something to slip through the cracks if you are not careful. As a result, you need to make sure that you have a list of everything, from favours to boutonnieres, and try to forget anything at all. The more you can plan and the more organised you can be, the easier wedding planning will always be. Take the time to enjoy the process, and always make sure that you end up with your final picture of the perfect wedding.
