Dogs are a part of the family, and so it makes sense for them to be included as part of people’s weddings. Depending on the type of ceremony you are having, the venue, and how you are attending (means of travel), there are a variety of different ways to ensure your best canine friend is part of your wedding day.
Here are some ideas for what you can do to make sure this happens.
Bring Your Pet To Your Wedding
The most obvious way to have your pet included in your wedding is to have them at the ceremony and the reception. This isn’t always going to be possible; there might be rules in place about animals in your chosen venue, for example. However, if you can do this, then it is a great way to have them become a big part of your day.
Your dog will have to be on its best behavior, so dog training in Milton Keynes might have to be part of your wedding preparations, too.
Remember, although you might love the idea of having your dog attend your wedding, there are some considerations to think about first, such as:
- Is there space for a dog?
- Will there be water available?
- Are you close to home?
- Where will they spend the night (if you aren’t going home and are staying at your venue)?
- Does your dog like large crowds?
- Will there be other animals there?
- Is there anyone who will take care of your dog while you have your photos taken and so on?
- Will any of your guests be allergic?
Mention Your Dog In Your Speeches
If, for practical reasons, your dog cannot physically attend your ceremony and reception, then you can definitely acknowledge how important they are to you in the wedding speeches.
If you’re not having speeches or you’re not making one yourself, why not include your dog in your vows? You could add a line about taking care of your pet between you and sharing responsibilities, for example.
Cake Decorations
Your wedding cake is a wonderful tradition that many couples use as a way to express their personality and their favorite things. Instead of the traditional white and floral wedding cakes of the past, modern day wedding cakes can include many different themes and decorations, and lots of happy couples liking to have sequences from their lives made out of icing and fondant and placed on the cake.
If you want your dog to be a part of your wedding, you can have the cake maker create a fondant version that sits on the top of the cake along with its fondant owners. This is a quirky, fun way to include your dog, and one that your guests are sure to enjoy.
Have A Cardboard Cut Out
If your dog can’t be there in person, then you can compromise with a cardboard cut out of your pet that can sit at the top table with you, and be part of your celebrations. Although not as good as the real thing, at least your dog will be there in spirit, and the cardboard cut out will be a good talking point for your guests.
