When people get married, it seems only right that they should have somewhere to live and talk about starting a new family. Unfortunately, finding the home of your dreams is a lot harder than you would think. It’s unlikely that you’re going to walk down an individual street and immediately see the home that is just right for you and it is also currently for sale. It takes many couples numerous years to find a place that is even close to what they’re looking for, and in many cases it’s something that they are going to have to spend a little bit more time and money on, to get it how they want. For those of you who are planning a big wedding and spending many thousands of dollars making sure that your many guests enjoy your big day, maybe you should think about keeping the vast majority of that money for your new home, and having a smaller celebration. No matter what you decide, house hunting is all about doing your research in order to find the right home at the right price.
Many people don’t even know where to start when it comes to finding their first home together and so here are some tips that will hopefully guide you through the whole thing.
– Do your research – First of all, think about the home that is going to make you happy and is going to suit your tastes and personality. Would you prefer to find a new home that nobody has lived in before, or would you rather find something that you can fix up and truly make it yours. Trying to narrow down your search to three of four areas that you would like to live in that are close to your work, to local schools, to shopping areas and where there is a low crime rate. Do you want a property that is open plan, or one that is enclosed and has retaining wall tiles from Amber.
– Sort out your finances – You probably don’t need tips on how to pick a honeymoon, but you are definitely going to need some tips when it comes to getting a mortgage for your home. It’s important to know what exactly your budget is going to be, and if you talk to your lender before you go house hunting then this can help a lot. Once you know what you can afford and what you cannot go over, it makes house hunting a little easier. Don’t put yourself in a situation where you find the home of your dreams and then you find later that you can’t afford it. Do the financing legwork now and that way you will know how much you can borrow. Be sure to factor in the additional extras that come with the new home like painting and decorating, and maybe having to completely change the kitchen and the bathroom.
