Plan Your Perfect Wedding Photography

Weddings

25 Oct

The right photographer will ensure you have stunning imagery of your big day, but what can you do to prepare? With so many things to focus on in the run-up to your wedding, it’s easy to get side-tracked. To make sure you get the best mementos, take a look at these top tips for planning the perfect wedding photography now.

Choose Your Style

Wedding photography may be a genre in itself but there are various different styles to consider. If you prefer formal shots, a traditional style may be right for you. Alternatively, a creative approach will give you the freedom to explore more unique imagery. Finally, a photojournalistic shot will deliver with minimal intervention and you’ll get some intimate, candid pictures.

Research Your Photographers

Before you make your final selection, do your due diligence and find out more about your potential photographers. Reputable wedding photographers, such as Rife Ponce Photography, will have a wide sample of shots online, so be sure to take a look.

Don’t be afraid to ask to meet your photographer before the big day. Whilst a face-to-face meeting might be logistically difficult, you can rely on Facetime or Skype to give you the opportunity for a virtual meet-up.

Book an Engagement Shoot

Posing for wedding photographs can be nerve-wracking. If you want to be camera-ready on your big day, get some practice in with a unique wedding engagement shoot. As well as helping you to choose your best side in advance of your wedding, you’ll have the chance to explore different styles and determine which ones you like best.

Furthermore, an engagement shoot will enable you to work with your photographer before the big day itself. In addition to providing you with a set of beautiful pictures to celebrate your engagement, you’ll be able to establish your working relationship with your photographer and get to know one another.

Scope Out the Venue

Most wedding venues have established areas for photoshoots. Whilst the most popular haunts do usually deliver the most iconic shots, do take the time to scout out alternative areas. Quieter areas of the venue are often overlooked but they can provide the perfect backdrop for your wedding photography.

Plan Your Shots

Whether you’re planning an intimate wedding or a large celebration, they’ll be some key shots you don’t want to miss. Take a look at your guest list and decide on your must-have pictures in advance. Weddings can be busy and chaotic, particularly if you’re having photographs taken as the guests move from one venue to another. By creating your must-have photograph list in advance, you can make sure you snap every timeless moment.

Capturing Your Wedding Day

The happiest day of your life deserves to be commemorated and wedding photography can do just that. Although there’s lots to plan and prepare for in advance, taking the time to prepare for your wedding pictures will ensure you get the best shots on the day.

Choosing the right wedding photographer will go a long way to ensuring you capture perfect shots but there’s no substitute for preparation. With the right research and planning, you will be calm, confident and camera-ready on your big day.
