7 Must-do Tasks When the Wedding is Over

Weddings

5 May

In all likelihood, your wedding took months or possibly even years to plan. From deciding on the venue, the dress and the cake to the last tiny finishing touches, you’ll have made more decisions planning this event than probably any other project in your life. Hopefully, all your efforts came together, it was a wonderful day and an incredible honeymoon, but you are ready to breathe a big sigh of relief and get on with married life. Don’t worry, you’re almost there, but before you get too comfortable, you there are just a few more tasks to take care of.

Send Thank You Notes

It’s generally accepted that you should send out your thank you notes within two months of the wedding. Depending on how many guests you invited, this could be a mammoth task for just one person. Split the list into sections and spend 25-30-minutes a day working through it. Some may recommend sending out a mass email with a generic thank you, but it won’t have the same personal touch and may even upset some of your guests.

Change Your Name

Now you have your marriage certificate; you’ll need to change your name with several organizations including your social security card, your driving license, your bank accounts, and credit cards, your doctors and anywhere else which has a record of your name. If you’re looking at the long list of admin, consider using the Hitchswitch Name Change kit; you complete one form, and they do the rest of the work for you.

Return, Sell or Save?

You will probably have a lot of items left over from the wedding which you’ll need to decide what you’re going to do with. It’s possible to preserve your wedding gown, bouquet, and even your cake if you choose to, but you could also sell your wedding dress or accessories online or donate them. In addition, if you received any duplicate wedding gifts, find out if the store you registered with will refund or exchange as soon as possible.

Get a Life Insurance Plan

Now you’re married you should be considering the health and life insurance you have or need. There are several options to consider, but if you’re looking for life insurance near me try Local Life Agents who can help you compare quotes from providers near you.

Review Your Wedding Vendors

Remember all those suppliers, vendors and professional individuals who helped make your day so special? The best way to thank the venue, florist, drivers, photographer, hair and make-up stylists, etc. is with a glowing review of their service. Personal thanks is always appreciated, but you’ll give their business a real boost by sharing your positive feedback publicly.

Organize Your Finances

If you have decided to open a joint bank account, you should do so as soon as possible after the wedding before it gets pushed down the list of priorities. You may also want to file taxes together, but it’s best to get advice from an accountant if you’re unsure. You can also get access to a CPA online from Oakland or any other city in the United States.

Plan Your Next Event

Before post-wedding blues set in, start planning something new to focus on the future rather than the end of the wedding experience you were looking forward to for so long. It could be a holiday, a new home or a simple party, but it will help you both transition from newly-weds to a happily married couple.
