5 Great Money-Saving Ideas for Your Wedding

Weddings

9 Jul

Contrary to popular belief, you can have a truly incredible wedding on a budget. All you need is imagination and the will to go that extra mile to source everything for yourself. To give you a good start on saving on your wedding, use these top four tips!

Get a Package Deal for the Venue

Unless you have a family member who has a great piece of land or home that you want to get married in, you will need to rent something out. Thankfully there are plenty of options and great budget ways to get a venue and even service. Just look for packaged deals.

Source Decorations Online

Though it may not seem like it, online markets like eBay are wonderful places to get beautiful decorations on a budget. From saving on budget essentials to finding truly beautiful second-hand pieces, sites like eBay are a treasure trove to enjoy.

You can even save further by sending in offers to the sellers or taking advantage of any online eBay coupons that are available online. Just remember to keep checking in during the wedding planning process for any new finds. There are hundreds of thousands of items on eBay, and new items coming all the time!

Save on Your Wedding Dress

There are so many unique ways that you can have a beautiful dress and save. You can even have a dress custom made for you and still stick to your budget. In this case, you will only be “renting” it for the day, and the designer keeps the dress to sell on later. Considering you are getting a custom gown to wear on your wedding day, and won’t need to store it somewhere for decades later, it’s a great option for the modern bride.

Other ways to save on your wedding dress include buying sample pieces, going to bridal sales, buying second hand, renting a dress, or repurposing a relative’s old wedding gown for your own wedding.

Save on Flowers

Flowers are usually a huge expense for any reason, but there are ways that you can save. One of the best ways is to forget your favorite flower and instead opt for flowers that are local and in season in your area. This way, you can get them fresher and on a budget.

Another option, if you are okay with the possibility of not having flowers for your wedding, is to wait till a few days before your big day to buy the flowers off of another bride. Just remember to organize your own bouquet no matter what!

Save on Drinks and Catering

A good way to be a good host and still save is to give everyone a small allowance at the bar. This way they can enjoy a drink or two on you, and then continue to drink on their own dime if they feel like it. Alternatively, you can have one drink that is free, a special wedding cocktail, and the rest is a paid bar.

To save on food, you can make it a big homely occasion and organize with your guests to bring something for the table, or when hiring a caterer, simply remember to keep it simple so that everyone has a greater chance of enjoying the meal.

A budget wedding is a personal wedding, and with the right dedication and commitment can be absolutely stunning.
