3 Tips For Including Your Grandparents In Your Wedding Plans

Weddings

29 Apr

If you have a wedding coming up soon and are wanting to make sure that the most important people to you get to feel included in your celebrations, you might be struggling to come up with exactly how you can make this happen. Especially if the people you’re wanting to have be a part of your wedding are your grandparents, you might be unsure what to do for them and how to make them feel included on this day with you. Luckily, there are plenty of ways that this can be done.

To help you see just what is possible for your big day, here are three tips for including your grandparents in your wedding plans.

Wear Something Of Theirs On Your Big Day

Because wedding styles can change so much and are based around what someone individually finds appealing, you might find that someone that your grandma or grandpa has could be a great addition to your wedding attire.

For starters, consider asking your grandparent if they still have anything that they wore on their wedding day. A necklace or cuff links could be a great choice. If this isn’t an option, ask if they have something special that they could loan you for that day. You might want to visit them at their home or assisted living facility to look through some treasures together and pick something you both love.

Dance Together

At most wedding receptions, dancing is a part of the celebrations. So if you’re planning on having dancing, consider putting together a special dance with your grandparent.

While most people will dance with their mother or fathers, having another dance where you get to spend some special time with your grandpa or grandma can be a great way to show your love and appreciation for them and all that they’ve done for you leading up to this moment in your life. Choose a song that you both love and will have fond memories of for the rest of your lives.

Give Them A Role In the Ceremony

For an even more pronounced presence of your grandparent during your wedding celebrations, you could even go so far as to give them a specific role in the ceremony.

There are plenty of ways your grandparents can be involved in this way. You could ask them to be your flower girl or ring bearer, you could ask them to walk you down the aisle or sit in the VIP section of your seating, or you could even ask them to administer the wedding vows or share some words during the ceremony. Whatever feels right for you and for them will work great here.

If you’re wanting your grandparents to play a bigger and more specific role in your wedding day, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you plan and prepare for this.
