How to put on a perfect 30th birthday party

Parties & Events

1 Oct

Reaching 30 years old is definitely a bit of a ‘moment’. Sure, it might not seem quite as momentous as your 16th, 18th or 21st, but it’s still one of life’s most significant milestones. It’s an age when you’re old enough to hopefully know more about yourself than you did in your teens or early twenties, but also still young enough to have practically unbridled ambition for the future.

What I’m saying, is that it’s absolutely an occasion worthy of celebration. So, here are some of the best ways to ensure your 30th birthday bash is one you remember for all of the right reasons.

Determine a suitable theme

This is one of the very first things you will have to consider when planning a 30th birthday party, for the simple reason that it will dictate so much else about the celebration.

If you’re anything like a lot of soon-to-be-thirty-somethings, you might well favour a theme that’s slightly more understated and classy than whatever you chose for your 18th or 21st. But of course, regardless of our age, we all have different tastes and preferences.

So if you were a bit of a wild child five or 10 years ago, you might simply make the theme ‘the end of my hedonistic twenties’. Or perhaps you could make it all about a ‘throwback’ to a massive pop-culture decade such as the ‘80s or ‘90s, or even base it on your favourite film franchise or rock star?

Secure a great venue

Along with the theme, the venue that you choose will be one of the biggest factors determining the whole character of your 30th birthday party.

However, it’s not just a certain ‘vibe’, such as modern, vintage or ‘big city’, that you might aspire to in a venue – practical factors like how much it will cost to hire the venue, and whether its location is convenient for all of your intended invitees to reach, are likely to matter just as much.

Don’t procrastinate when it comes to finding and choosing a venue, though. Many of the best ones will probably be fully booked between 12 and 18 months before a given date, so it’s important to pick out a few potential locations that you like, and then get on with enquiring.

Ensure the decorations hit the right note

So, with the theme and venue ticked off, what’s next? The short answer: many things, but the decor ought to be one of them. After all, once you know where the party will be, you will be able to use that backdrop as a cue for the kind of decorations and other essentials you seek.

The exact items that you hire, purchase or borrow, though, should also reflect your own taste and personality – it’s not just a case of trying to ‘complement’ the venue.

If you’re struggling to think of ideas for items that will add a distinctive touch, take a look at online stores that specialise in party essentials – such as GO International, which stocks various ‘30th-themed’ and fun items including napkins, sashes, tiaras, plates, confetti, bunting and so much more.

Naturally, the above is by no means an exhaustive rundown of everything that could be instrumental in making your 30th birthday party utterly special. Nonetheless, when you do get these elements right, you’ll be establishing the foundations for seeing out your twenties in perfect style.
