Date night is a great excuse to spend some alone time with your partner and is something you should aim to enjoy once a week. However, you may feel like you do the same activities every weekend and need a change, so you may be looking for some date night ideas.
Here are some new things you and your partner could try this weekend.
- Try a different type of cuisine
Eating out is the classic date night activity, but try to avoid going to the same restaurants, or just enjoying the same type of cuisine all the time. New types of cuisine are becoming popular all the time, so you could try something like Filipino food, which you can enjoy at RAPSA in London, or even visit a street food market and try lots of different things. This will ensure you don’t get stuck in a rut.
- See some live music together
Bored of the cinema and don’t have much interest in local theatre? Go see a band together. Even if you don’t have the same music tastes, seeing live music together is a good way to broaden your horizons and find common ground. Check out local pubs and venues to see what’s on.
- Go away for the night
If you can get an overnight babysitter, it’s worth spending the night away, even if it’s just somewhere down the road. A night away from home means:
- You break your usual routine
- You aren’t distracted by housework and cooking, so can just enjoy each other’s company
- You get to sleep in without distractions
- It feels like a break away from home
While you may not think that there are any places worth visiting in your area, the good thing about the UK is that there are loads of great destinations for mini breaks, so no matter where you live, there will be something interesting nearby.
- Go for a walk
Walks in the countryside can be very romantic as long as you don’t have boisterous kids or dogs in tow, so pull out your hiking boots and plan a route. There are certainly plenty of ideas for the best places to walk, which vary from hour long strolls to full day hikes. Pick a route that’ll suit both of your fitness levels, so you don’t end up exhausted, and make sure it ends with a cosy pub.
- Spend time at home without phones
You may think you need to go out to spend quality time together, but many couples could make happy memories at home, if only they’d put down their phones. Have a night where phones and tablets are banned, locking them in a cupboard if necessary, then enjoy some simple things together like cooking or watching a movie. You’ll notice how different things feel when phones are out of the equation.
Date nights don’t have to involve posh restaurants or expensive theatre trips. There are lots of things you can do to break your usual routine and enjoy each other’s company.
