With its stunning landscape, impressive wineries, and endless variety of wildlife, Adelaide has plenty to offer couples who are looking for a heady mix of romance and adventure.

Barossa Valley

The Barossa Valley is internationally acclaimed as one of the best wine regions on the planet. Foodie couples can feast their way around the valley, enjoying the culinary delights of award-winning restaurants, whilst also experiencing the European charm of the leafy streets and scenic heritage trails. Sample the official best wine in the world here or simply wander amongst the vineyards whilst you soak up the wonderful climate that South Australia has to offer.

Adelaide Hills

Adelaide Hills is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. Steep gorges lead to spectacular waterfalls, and the unmatched natural splendor is home to an abundance of iconic Australian wildlife. Adelaide Hills is home to Hahndorf, the oldest German settlement in Australia. Visitors flock here to delight in the many gourmet food stores and wineries. For the best Adelaide Hills accommodation, head to Hahndorf Resort as a scenic base from which to enjoy all that the area has to offer.

There are numerous walking and cycling trails for visitors to enjoy, as well as good shopping, welcoming pubs and restaurants, and some of Australia’s most visited parks.

Music and Festivals

Plan your trip right, and your honeymoon could see you dancing the night away at one of Adelaide’s many iconic music festivals, such as the Adelaide Fringe, Australia’s bestselling open-access arts festival. Rock enthusiasts should head to Sounds by the River, where national and international acts perform a massive rock mix from international legends. Another award-winning festival is WOMADelaide, an open-air festival set in Adelaide’s stunning Botanic Park, which celebrates the best of the world of music, arts, and dance.

Beaches

After the excitement of your wedding, relax and unwind on one of Adelaide’s many stunning beaches. With the magnificent South Australian climate warming your skin, you can simply sprawl out on a towel or take a paddle in the clear blue seas. A bit further afield is Port Noarlunga, a beach that offers wonderful opportunities for surfing and body boarding. There is also a long boardwalk, which leads to a reef that is popular with visitors all year round. There are also award-winning restaurants, where you can satiate your hunger after all your marine activities.

Adelaide beaches also offer a wide variety of water sports to suit all tastes, from simple snorkeling to surfing, deep sea diving, and sport fishing.

Kangaroo Island

Just off the coast of Adelaide lies Kangaroo Island, an eco-tourism haven for wildlife that boasts dazzling scenery with azure seas lapping up onto sweeping white beaches. Steep coastal cliffs and giant wind-sculpted boulders provide the backdrop for sand dunes, caves, and rolling green hills. Of course, it’s not called Kangaroo Island for nothing, but that’s not the only inhabitant, as visitors can also expect to encounter sea lions, koalas, and penguins. Explore a wreck whilst temperate-water diving and delight in the abundant marine life.
