5 Ways To Increase Morale Amongst Wedding & Events Staff

Business & Entrepreneurship

25 Dec

Every wedding and events business needs to think about ways in which they can boost morale amongst the workforce. The business operation is powered entirely by the workforce, which means that in order to operate at maximum efficiency the staff will need to be happy, motivated and work well as a team. This is not something that happens overnight, and it takes constant effort. Ultimately, it could help your wedding and events business to be more successful while also creating an enjoyable atmosphere in the workplace that everyone can enjoy. Fortunately, there are many effective ways to raise morale which you should consider throughout the year to constantly keep it at a high level.

1. Feedback & Communication

One of the most effective ways to raise morale is to communicate more. This should encourage staff to talk with one another while they work (although not at the expense of work) and to speak to them about their lives outside of work. This will include making an effort to celebrate life events, such as birthdays, births, and weddings. In addition to this, an employer should provide regular and genuine positive feedback to employees to help them feel valued.

2. Create A Nice Working Environment

An employer should also think about the layout and environment of the workspace, and how they can make it a space where workers can work efficiently and comfortably. Depending on the nature of the event you are working, such as a wedding, you may need to tailor your layout to the needs to your clients, but that doesn’t mean that you have to overlook the staff. Have suitable break areas, and make sure there is natural light., for example. Consider any health and safety concerns in the planning process, so your staff are working in a safe environment, too.

3. Incentives

Incentives are a great way to boost morale while simultaneously motivating your staff to work harder. There are many effective ways to incentivize staff, including:

Cash bonuses

Rewards

Early finishes

Days off

4. Corporate Events

It can be nice for employees to spend time with one another in a non-work setting so that they can relax and let their hair down. The Christmas party is an important event to hold, but you could look to hold regular events throughout the year. This could include a party where you hire a venue with corporate bartenders so that you can show your appreciation for their hard work and have some fun. This can see your workers take the weight off their feet for once as you celebrate their hard work!

5. Progression

It is hard to feel happy and motivated in your job if you do not feel like you are going anywhere. It is for this reason why employers need to listen to what the hopes and goals are of each employee and take action to help them realize these. This could include providing training, sending them to seminars and industry events, introducing them to key figures higher up in the business and promoting from within.

These are all highly effective ways to raise morale amongst employees at a wedding and events company. It is important to recognize that morale is a constantly changing state amongst every staff member, so it is vital that you look out for signs of low and decreasing morale and make an effort throughout the year to keep levels as high as possible. In addition to helping the company to succeed, this will also make the office a welcoming and friendly space for all.
