Many things can lead to missing teeth, including accidents. Missing teeth can cause your confidence and self-esteem to plummet, especially when the gap created is obvious. Furthermore, a gap caused by missing teeth can result in other teeth moving to fill the gap, which will eventually result in further gaps and/or jaw deterioration. This is why it is crucial to treat missing teeth.

The good news is that an experienced, family-friendly dentist can help treat a missing tooth and the resulting gap. The more expensive option is to get a single-tooth dental implant. However, a cost-effective alternative is to get dental bridges. Dental bridges involve filling missing gaps with false teeth that look and feel natural. The false teeth are anchored by crowns or dental implants on both sides.

So, what are some of the benefits of dental bridges? Well, they include but aren’t limited to the following:

  • Restore your confidence

A beautiful and healthy smile is priceless. Dental bridges mean you can smile without fear of being judged. Having great confidence builds up self-esteem, which is important in many ways, including career development. Higher self-esteem is also necessary for a comfortable and peaceful lifestyle. You can now partake of group photos that you were previously hesitant to participate in because you couldn’t give a wider smile like other people.

  • Maintain a natural appearance

The jawbones are directly responsible for your facial appearance, and when they start to deteriorate, your face structure will change. The shape of the jawbones is stimulated by the teeth roots, which make them fall in a particular alignment. Getting a dental bridge will help prevent severe jaw deterioration, which could lead to further loss of teeth. It is imperative to visit your dentist regularly so that you can treat conditions before they worsen.

  • Improve chewing

A dental bridge is a perfect plan for alleviating the pain that results from eating with spaced teeth. The pain can either be caused by the act of other teeth tilting towards the gap or when food particles get stuck in the space. When sugary food particles accumulate on the empty socket, they can also cause severe gum disease or even infect other teeth with cavities or decay.

  • Keep other teeth in place

Lastly, you should know that your teeth depend on each other to stay in position. Losing a single tooth can make the remaining teeth start shifting towards the left space. That is why it is imperative to consider a dental bridge if you lose even a single tooth.
