Managing A Wedding When You’re Expecting: A Guide

Blog· Lifestyle· Parties & Events· Weddings

3 Aug

Though days have long since past where women needed to rush into marriage to hide the fact that she conceived out of wedlock, that doesn’t mean it can’t still be a great idea to have your wedding beforehand. Babies are huge commitments, and marriage can be pushed further and further back after the baby is welcomed into your life. By taking care of your health and managing your time better, however, you can juggle both being pregnant and a bride-to-be if you follow this easy guide:

Better Your Health from The Start

Your health will directly impact the health of your baby, which is why the best case scenario for any birth is to start preparing beforehand. Have a visit with your doctor so that you can have tests done to see what state your health is in and if there are any complications which need addressing before you become pregnant. If everything checks out well, you will likely be prescribed a series of prenatal vitamins like folic acid. Folic acid, especially when it is taken before conception, can reduce the risk of your baby developing several common congenital disabilities. Work with your doctor so that you can prepare your health beforehand, and so you and your baby can both stay healthy after your new baby has been conceived.

Host a Joint Baby and Wedding Shower

One of the biggest rules for expectant mothers is that she should not drink or smoke during her pregnancy. It means that a lot of the fun of a bachelorette party has been taken off the table, but that’s okay! Instead, consider having a joint wedding and baby shower. Go to a nice restaurant for brunch, dress up, have fresh juices and delicious food and spend time with your friends and family. What’s more, you can use your wedding and baby registry with greater purpose. Let your friends know you would like some baby supplies from thegreennursery.com and other family-friendly gifts that will make life much easier for you and your partner.

Plan the Wedding Around Your Baby

There are so many ways you can make your wedding friendlier for your baby. You can opt for a free-flowing dress that will allow you to look great no matter how far along you are. Similarly, making the wedding a small, intimate affair can significantly lower the costs and make it feel more special. Combined, this will lower your stress on the day, help you have a better time, and keep money saved away for your newborn.

Tip: Try to hold the wedding before your third trimester, and always work with your doctor throughout this time so that your baby can stay healthy and happy.

Getting married when you are pregnant is not ideal, but if you truly want a wedding, then there is no better time to do it. Newborns are very demanding, and soon time can slip away from you, meaning you might end up postponing your marriage for years. Instead, multitask. Save money, effort, and time by hosting a small wedding of only your nearest and dearest, and join up all your wedding celebrations with baby celebrations and you will be good to go!
