Perfect Accessories to Compliment Your Wedding Day Look

So you’ve found THE dress, you’ve found your pumps, you’ve found the best hair dresser in town to give you that perfect ‘do, but what about the accessories?! You want to add some finishing touches to complete your flawless wedding day look, but you don’t want to overdo it, right? Girl, I hear ya! I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t depend on your specific dress and your personal style. But, I’ve got a few tips to help lead you in the right direction so that you are looking absolutely fabulous on your big day.

Strapless Dresses

There are two ways you can go when accessorizing your strapless dress: go big or don’t go at all. I am head over heels in love with the idea of a chunky necklace with a strapless dress. It modernizes the look and gives a little personality and youthfulness. If you go with a chunky necklace, wear little stud earrings or no earrings at all! Don’t overdo it!

If you aren’t feeling the chunky necklaces, my advice to you is to wear no necklace at all! There is something innocent, romantic, and elegant about a beautiful strapless dress with no necklace. If you choose to go this route, have fun with chandelier or drop earrings! Just a little touch of sparkle will complete the look, guaranteed.

Sleeves and/or High Necklines

If your dress has sleeves or a high neckline, I say opt out of any necklace-dainty or chunky- and just add sweet little studs, drops, or little chandeliers. Even just a little pair of earrings will take your look from incomplete to perfection.

How to Add Color

Most brides opt for pearls and diamonds, but if you are wanted to add a little more fun to your wedding look,  you can add colorful jewelry- but be careful! Colorful accessories are so easily overdone. Don’t go crazy… just a little colorful pair of earrings or a necklace with a splash of color. That is all you need to achieve the look you want.

Fresh Floral Crowns

Ditch the traditional crown and instead opt for a gorgeous crown of fresh flowers.  Floral crowns can be made to look a number of different ways including bohemian, rustic chic, as well as polished and classic depending on the type of flowers you choose.  The bride does not have to be the only one in a crown of flowers.  You can incorporate these crowns into the wardrobe of your bridesmaids and flower girl, too!  These flowers add a fresh touch to any brides wedding look and most interestingly, they add a touch of spontaneity because the flowers must be fresh and you cannot exactly predict the look of your bridal crown!  A crown of flowers is natural, fresh, unique, chic, and whimsical!

Funny Sunnies for Your Honeymoon

So the big day is finally over, and now it is time to relax with your honey! I’ve got one last thing (or maybe a few!) to add to your packing list…a new pair of sunnies!  It’s all about fun and self-expression. The main trends we are seeing today are: cat-eye, round frames, colorful frames, and gradient lenses. The greatest thing about these trends is that they can be combined! Some of my favorite sunglasses from this season are gradient cat eyes! They give a chic look with a touch of sass! Also, colorful, round frames are so much fun to play with! What’s better than a cute bikini on the beach paired off with a colorful pair of sunnies?! Not much!! Get inspired by the photos below then run to the mall to find the perfect pair of sunnies. Happy Honeymoonin!

The Little Details Count: Garters

The bridal garter has come a long way since becoming a tradition in the early 14th century. Once used to hold up a bride’s stockings, it’s now seen as a lucky charm and usually tossed into a crowd or for some simply another way to accessorize their  wedding wardrobe. If you choose to take part in the tradition, the garter is a fun way to get creative. Many brides now customize garters with wedding colors, family heirlooms, trinkets, memorabilia, or a petal from the grooms boutonniere. Etsy is a great resource for finding unique designs such as the one’s shown below. Hilary Duff donned one by England-based Florrie Mitton (that can be found on the site) on her wedding day, Lo Boheme out of San Diego offers an array of adjustable silk chiffon and antique beaded garters, while Garter Lady creates heirloom-worthy sets…one for keeping and one for tossing. ~SQ

American Apparel: Accessorize your Groom

American Apparel may not be the first place that comes to mind when outfitting for a wedding, but their ever-expanding (and inexpensive) selection of merchandise tops the list of stylists pulling for fashion shoots. Last time I stopped by the store I spotted this men’s black patent shoe that would be perfect for the groom who wants to show off his moves on the dance floor post nuptials.~SQ
