This past weekend our team had the pleasure of attending and covering The Swoon Event in Dallas. This is not your run-of-the-mill bridal show. Nor is it your run-of-the-mill bridal market. Picture Pinterest - and spending an afternoon pinning beautiful, awe-inspiring, gotta-have-it-now goodness for parties and weddings…but in person. You can imagine the giddiness and ear to ear smiles. The Swoon Event took place at The Green Warehouse in the Trinity Groves community of Dallas and (sidebar: if you live in Dallas, near Dallas, or are planning a trip to Dallas – you must visit this vibrant, thriving, eclectic destination) primarily features non-traditional goods, services and inspiration for locals who are planning a wedding or event. However, you don’t have to be a Dallas Fort Worth native to partake. For example, Winifred Bean (our newest obsession) can be shopped online. Also available worldwide – Appy Couple, Design Roots, Posta Bella, Damsel White Label, Picture Perfect Day, and Apryl Ann Photography. If you love working with independant designers, are obsessed with discovering new talent, crave incredible distinctive art, and enjoy shopping small businesses then we highly recommend checking out and following all of The Swoon Event vendors.
Wedding Beauty
Hues You’ll Heart: Light Blue
With so many shades and variations light blue can be a perfect wedding color. It is simple enough that it can be pared with any color, or with all of the different shades of blue can be used to create a light blue palette. This delicate color is perfect for spring weddings because it’s as light and airy as the weather outside! This is also a great way to add “something blue” to you wedding!
Hues You’ll Heart: Pretty Pastels
I absolutely love the idea of a soft, whimsical, feminine color palette for a wedding. Pastels give you just that! Pastels are so pretty and so fun to play with! They can be mixed very easily, which gives you a lot of leeway when designing your wedding decor. With baby blues, precious pinks, and gentle greens, you can create a breathtaking color palette. Pastels can be incorporated in table settings, dinnerware, bridesmaid dresses, flowers, cakes, and so much more! I am drooling over the idea of an outdoor wedding filled with pretty pastels! So what are you waiting for? Get planning your perfect pastel affair!
Short and Sassy ‘Dos for the Bride
Long hair not for you? Don’t you worry! I’ve got some inspiration for some short, sassy bridal hairdos that will have you wanting to run to the hairdresser yesterday! Who says you need to have long hair or a typical up-do for your wedding? If you have short hair, there are still so many options that will have you wowing your guests (and your hubby-to-be!). If you are wanting to wear a veil, opt for a smaller one or a bird cage veil. Flowers, headbands, and hair clips are also great options to add a little oomph to your wedding day hair style! Curly or straight, pixie or bob, look below for some inspiration for a short, sassy wedding ‘do!
Loving Lilly Pulitzer
There is nothing I love more than bold prints and bright colors! No one in the world does this better than Lilly Pulitzer. I love her playful combination of colors, feminine patterns and prints, and flattering silhouettes. This got me thinking… how perfect would Lilly dresses be for spring and summer bridesmaid dresses? Have all your maids wear the same dress for a unified look, or get a little funky and mix and match some dresses. Either way, you’ve got yourself a fresh, classic, gorgeous look… Check out her amazing spring/summer collection!
