This past weekend our team had the pleasure of attending and covering The Swoon Event in Dallas. This is not your run-of-the-mill bridal show. Nor is it your run-of-the-mill bridal market. Picture Pinterest - and spending an afternoon pinning beautiful, awe-inspiring, gotta-have-it-now goodness for parties and weddings…but in person. You can imagine the giddiness and ear to ear smiles. The Swoon Event took place at The Green Warehouse in the Trinity Groves community of Dallas and (sidebar: if you live in Dallas, near Dallas, or are planning a trip to Dallas – you must visit this vibrant, thriving, eclectic destination) primarily features non-traditional goods, services and inspiration for locals who are planning a wedding or event. However, you don’t have to be a Dallas Fort Worth native to partake. For example, Winifred Bean (our newest obsession) can be shopped online. Also available worldwide – Appy Couple, Design Roots, Posta Bella, Damsel White Label, Picture Perfect Day, and Apryl Ann Photography. If you love working with independant designers, are obsessed with discovering new talent, crave incredible distinctive art, and enjoy shopping small businesses then we highly recommend checking out and following all of The Swoon Event vendors.

Hitched Bridal Crawl: A Bridal Showcase in Lewisville, Texas
Getting hitched? Then you MUST partake in this Bridal Crawl! I know what you’re thinking – that I just made a Freudian slip and accidentally replaced the word beer with bridal. However, there are no corrections that need to be made my wedding planning friends. Let me explain. Hitched Bridal Crawl is an annual bridal showcase of some crazy creative and super talented wedding pros. This is not your typical bridal show. Nor does this crawl involve pounding beers. It’s better than both because it involves an intimate experience that allows you to comfortably mix and mingle with the best in the biz. Plus no hangover. AND I might be mistaken but I’m thinking there might be cake involved. What more could you ask for?
Head on over to Hitched BridalCrawl on Main Street – located in the Historic Old Town Lewisville, TX.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science –
Weddings with Dinosaurs?
Be prepared to ooohh and aahhh….the Perot Museum of Nature and Science is NOW OPEN. I know what you’re thinking. “I come to Society Bride for all things wedding, not all things nature and science.” So let me explain the method to today’s madness. Last week one of my favorite friends – and Society Bride vendor Jenn Sprinkle – invited me to attend a special Wedding Industry Event at the Perot Museum that she was participating in. The event was designed by Marla Watson of the Peapod Group and Travis-Lee Moore of Functions Event Planning and Decor. The reason for the event was to showcase Perot Museum as a venue space. You see, not only can you rent the museum for an overnight sleep-over (yes just like the movie!) you can also book the new museum for your big day. Enter today’s post…
If you’re the type of bride that wants to have a memorable wedding, in a unique setting, in the heart of the city, then look no further. Believe it or not more and more couples are considering Dallas, Fort Worth as a premier destination for weddings because of it’s central location (Family on the East Coast? Family on the West Coast? Well let’s just meet in the middle y’all!). The Perot Museum – recently dubbed the “world of wonder” – offers a variety of options depending on wants, needs and size. And if these incredible photos below captured by Harry Photo do not peek your interest, then how bout this – the museum has chosen internationally renowned Wolfgang Puck as the exclusive catering partner. And yes, these painted gold egg dessert cups were as delicious as they were beautiful. Don’t tell anyone but Jenn and I had seconds…ok thirds.
The table was a design by Marla Watson of Peapod Group and Travis-Lee Moore of Functions Event Planning and Decor.
“We built a fantasy tablescape with the theme of “Lyda’s Lair”, as a fun table that Lyda Hill, philanthropist and namesake of that particular display might have put on for her friends. The fantasy attendees were the first families of Dallas.” – said Marla Watson of Peapod Group.
Please excuse this photo on the right just above. I took this will my phone but wanted to include because I loved the modern mix of florals in this arrangement. The other talented vendors who were invited to participate include Hyacinth Belcher and John Stephens of OnStage Systems, Mami Ogata Driscoll of Botanical Art, Jay Cooper and Leslie Cole of Ducky Bob’s Event Specialists, and Leigh Stem of AFR Furniture.
Last but certainly not least – photography taken by the talented Harry of Harry Photo. For additional information on booking an event at the Perot Museum visit this Event Rentals section of their site.
Lavished in Lace: The Intuzuri Spring 2013 Collection and Martina Liana Fall 2012 Collection
Bliss Bridal Salon and De Ma Fille bridal boutique in Fort Worth, Texas recently displayed two trunk shows for the Spring 2013 Intuzuri and Fall 2012 Martina Liana wedding gown collections. Both collections were absolutely stunning and truly represented the upcoming trends for this wedding season!
Bliss Bridal Salon held the Intuzuri Spring 2013 collection ranging from $2000-3000. Intuzuri had the most impeccable lace with such intricate detail. This collection displayed dresses with a more traditional/vintage look with touches of modern flare, which seems to be trending for this wedding season. Intuzuri, while having a more traditional look, also was able to make it fun by adding lots of sequins embedded within the flower-patterned lace. Even underneath the top layer of the dresses had detailed netting and patterns.
This traditional/vintage look was also carried over to the Martina Liana collection at the De Ma Fille bridal boutique, which ranges from $1799-3000. The lace was also very detailed in this collection tied in with exquisite beading. These gowns showed a sort of “southern belle” look with classy, traditional taste. The high neckline and capped shouldered dresses also give off this vintage and traditional look. Champagne and Blush colored dresses also fell into this collection, which have been trending this wedding season. Many of these dresses had beautiful lace layered tiers and a long laced train, which showed the true elegance of a traditional wedding gown.
