A hot trend for the past few years has been food bars at the wedding reception. But, if you’re like me, you might be bored by the same old mashed potato or macaroni and cheese or candy bar. Since it is summer, why not bring back a summer camp favorite by having a s’more bar? Who doesn’t love roasting marshmallows and making s’mores? You can enjoy this treat whether your reception is inside or outside. A rustic campfire is great for an outdoor wedding by the lake, but you can also use mini hibachi grills or sterno for indoor fun. Have a table set up with different flavored marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate, and additional toppings like fruit or crushed up candy for your guests to choose from. If you want something besides the traditional milk chocolate bars, use peanut butter cups, or dark chocolate squares to add variety. With a s’more bar at your reception it’s something new and modern that guests will enjoy.

Country French Wedding in Houston
Nothing makes me smile quite like a black-tie wedding! The glitz, the glamour! Oh everything just oozes sophistication and I feel like I’ve been taken back in time. Plus, this beautiful bride is wearing Oscar de la Renta. Swoon. The candlelit reception is soft and elegant, accessorized by breathtaking flowers in subdued hues. Pairing Grey or Silver with Fun Colors
One of the most stressful things for a wedding is the color palette. One trend that I currently adore is pairing a shade of grey or silver with bold or pastel colors. Pairing a neutral, clean grey and or silver with pastels such as peach or mint or with bold colors like teal or fuchsia, you won’t have to worry about colors clashing or being too loud for guests. There are many shades of grey from which to choose, but if you feel that grey is too somber, add a third color if you haven’t already. Try a lighter shade of the color that you’ve already paired with the grey or another neutral tone like beige or ivory. This simple addition of grey and silver works with any color during every season of the year and makes picking a color palette that much easier.
Incorporating Nautical Rope
Summer is here, and with it, wedding season. There are tons of options to create a unique and memorable wedding during a time when many just seem to run together. One way to make your big day stand out in the minds of your guests is to throw a nautical themed fete. A nautical theme is perfect for the special day when you and your fiancé “tie the knot”! Karen’s Rope Work, a shop on etsy.com, creates wedding décor, reception table accessories and gifts out of nautical rope. She has a specific section for all things wedding, such as table cards with a nautical theme, rope knot cardholders, place mats and coasters, wine bottle stoppers, and knots that can hang from that chairs or pews. These gifts and accessories are hand made with white cotton, manila, or blue cotton rope. But if you want to save money the site also provides DIY instructions for purchase that are easy to understand. Karen’s Rope Work creates innovative products that are perfect for that nautical or beach themed wedding in the summer.
